How
do you evaluate your child's needs and match them to
the appropriate program?
One of the most difficult decisions a
parent can make is to place their struggling child into
the hands of caring professionals outside their home-often
many states away. It is easy to feel overwhelmed by
the number of programs advertising their services. Parents
often tell us that they have no way of knowing which
program would be best for their child.
The GACS
e-Learning Program for Parents was developed to help
you feel more confident about your decisions by educating
you on how to make a match between your child's difficulties
and the level of care that will meet your child's needs.
The GACS
e-Learning Program includes a 30-minute online presentation,
developed and narrated by Janet Greenwood, Ph.D., as
well as a document package that includes two additional
training modules.
Parent Module One helps you understand how to assess
your child's difficulties and Parent Module Two helps
you match those difficulties with the Level of Care
that your child needs.
How
will this training program help you?
Once you have gone through the online training and read
both modules, you can confidently evaluate programs, as
a better understanding of the process will help you feel
more in control.
One of the main purposes of this training series is to
enable you to speak the same language as the professionals.
We have found that parents feel more a part of the decision-making
process and more secure in their children's placements
when they better understand why a program is a good match
for their child. When we are all speaking the same language,
it helps everyone feel more confident about the decisions
being made.
We would then recommend that you go through this training
before you place your child in any Program/School.
